Note: Santo is the generic noun for "saint" and is also an adjective for "holy." "San" and the feminine form "santa" are used with the names of people (Saint John = San Juan, Santa Ana = Saint Ann). Santo is used before names that start with "To" to avoid confusion (Santo Tomas).
