Lesson 1 - Saludos (Greetings)

Language Focus: Letters in Spanish

Classroom activities: Letter Dictation - Have the students work in pairs and spell a Spanish word to their classmate. The classmate writes the letters to spell the word. You could select words that they learned in this lesson or words from the 1000 Words lessons.

Pronunciation

Language Focus: Pronunciation rules, stress and accents

Classroom activities:
1) Print out a list of Spanish words. Have the students use the rules for stress and accents to determine which syllable of each word would be stressed. Underline the stressed syllable.

2) Have the students work in pairs to try to sound out words in Spanish from a list of words provided by you. You could pick random words from the 1000 Words lessons for your list.

Greetings/Dialogue

Language Focus: - Greetings in Spanish

Classroom activities:
1) Have the students practice reading the dialogue in pairs.

2) Have the students work in pairs to write their own original greetings dialogue and act it out in front of the class.

Reading

Language Focus: Introductions

Classroom activities: Have the students write a few sentences to introduce themselves just as Lety did in the lesson.

Quiz

Have the students review any portions of the lesson that they made mistakes in on the quiz.
